Salli Squitieri's Boat Work and Experiences

In 2000 Salli purchased a 1921 43’ Trumpy design wooden pilot house motor yacht with her partner. She worked on all aspects of the vessels from sanding, caulking, painting, from minor to major repairs, assisted with refurbishing and even engine work. The vessel was never short of projects. She initiated and assisted with the installation of several rule bilge pumps, a dual battery system, improved electrical systems and much more. Salli handled almost all of the upkeep and maintenance of the vessel.

And also learned of the vessel's history and discovered that a renowned Greek boat builder (E. Miles) had purchased the Trumpy design in order to obtain his boat license as it was required to build a wood vessel before obtaining one’s license. Salli later met a 90 year old man who lived and played on the vessel as child and met several of previous owners of the vessel.

Additionally, Salli worked and enjoyed excursions on the on the famed Wolf a reproduction pirate vessel—a tall ship that was part of Key West tourism. She helped prepare it for long sea trips, stock her, clean her, and do wood working, construction and helped restore the steel hull of the vessel. Salli as well did cooking for staff and helped with special events.

Further, she was hired to occasionally do detailing, interior decorating, consultation for space utilization, assorted errands and tasks and deep cleaning for owners of private vessels including waxing of a several catamarans. My tasks and assorted work in regards to vessels was ongoing.
